H2S Alive.



This eight-hour course covers the physical properties, potential locations and exposure limits of H2S. It contains procedures to follow in the event of an H2S release. The attendee will also learn about breathing apparatus use in an H2S environment, measurement and detection devices, basic rescue techniques and artificial respiration for H2S victims.

Confined Space Entry



This eight-hour course is designed to increase the attendee's knowledge of the hazards associated with confined space entry. The course covers definition of a confined space, hazards, legislation, roles and responsibilities, personal protective equipment, air monitoring and rescue. 

Course topics include:

Hour 1        - Introduction: Discussion of actual confined space incident
                    fatalities, what happened, what went wrong.
                  - Legislation and Definition of Confined Spaces
Hour 2        - Identifying Hazards common to Confined Spaces
Hour 3        - Elimination and Control Measures of these Hazards
Hour 4        - Confined Space Entry Procedure ( Roles, Responsibilities,
                    Hazard Assessment and Permit)
Hour 5        -  Respirators (Air Purifying and Air Supplying - Purposes,
                    Capabilities and Limitations
Hour 6        - Rescue Equipment Types Harness Fitting Demo
Hour 7        - Scenario problem solving - involves applying course info to
                    complete hazard assessment and permit working in
                    groups to an actual scenario, rescue planning
Hour 8        - Written exam and closing remarks/student comments

WHMIS

WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) training is legally required of all employees who are likely to be exposed to a controlled product in the workplace.

Course topics include:

Employer and Employee roles and responsibilities
Understanding and creating controlled product labels
Learning and applying information on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Learning the proper use of basic safety equipment

Flagger1

Traffic Flag Person

The Flag Person's course is a full day course that is certified by the Alberta Construction Safety Association. It consists of both classroom and practical training.

The course outline:

  4. Flagger Position
  5. Practices and Procedures
  6. Communication with the Public
  7. Flaggers Code of Conduct


Respiratory Protection

Basic Respirator Training is a half day course. Topics of instruction will include the different types of respirators, the limitations of respirator use, the process for selecting the appropriate respirator for a hazard, fit testing of respirators, and the storage, care, cleaning, inspection and maintenance of respirators.

Fit Tester Certification is a full day course. With Basic Respirator as a pre-requisite, this course will prepare you to do the fit testing for your own worksite. 

Respirator Training


SFA1

Standard First Aid.

This two day course gives participants critical knowledge and the confidence to effectively manage an emergency, without panic or confusion. The focus is on giving first aid for common injuries that could occur in the workplace, or at home. It gives participants the basic skills needed to reduce shock, contain injuries and in many cases, save lives.

Hantavirus Awareness

This half day seminar is designed to provide the attendee with an understanding of recent history of hantavirus, risk groups by occupation of those most at risk, hazards associated with exposure, personal protective equipment and safe work practices during exposure.


Fall Protection

This full day course is endorsed by OSSA, ACSA and the Building Materials Association among others. It is designed by the Fall Protection Group Inc. It is designed to provide the end user with the skills to be able to choose and don the appropriate fall protection equipment for every application.

Course Topics Include:

  1. Introduction to Fall Protection Systems
  2. Applicable Legislation
  3. Creating a Fall Protection Plan
  4. Selecting anchor points for travel restraint and fall arrest systems
  5. Selecting appropriate connectors
  6. Lanyards, SRL's Horizontal Lifelines, Vertical Lifelines
  7. Full Body harnesses - Types and Proper donning procedures
  8. Understanding clearance and freefall requirements
  9. Inspection of and practice using all basic fall protection components
  10. Maintenance requirements
  11. Rescue Planning



Fire Extinguisher Training.

This full day course will cover the following topics: how fires happen, different types of fires, knowing when to attack a fire, types of extinguishers and their ratings, choosing the right extinguisher, proper activation, application techniques, maintenance and storage.
